The American Transportation Research Institute has released the findings of its 2012 update to “An Analysis of the Operational Costs of Trucking.” The research identifies trucking costs from 2008 to 2011 derived directly from fleet operations.

TCA Adding "Wellness" to National Truck Driver Appreciation Week

During National Truck Driver Appreciation & Wellness Week, the Truckload Carriers Association and state trucking associations will host health fairs and "celebrity walks" designed to get drivers exercising, eating better, and taking charge of their bodies. These activities will take place at 12 TA/Petro locations across the U.S. from 3-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18.

Despite Slow Growth, Capacity Balance Means Trucking's Doing OK

The economy is expected to continue to grow slowly amidst a variety of headwinds, but because the trucking industry has not been adding back capacity cut or lost during the recession, pricing trends are largely positive, with flatbed, tanker and reefer business leading the way, according to transportation analysts at Stifel Nicolaus, who took a look at the transportation and logistics industry in its third annual "Shaking the Sand out of the Sneakers" post-Labor-Day conference call Tuesday.
